Xmas is coming and as always people get busier in their day to day lives with shopping and work not to mention becoming a little “less motivated” with the dark nights and cold mornings. I have kids myself and run a business so I understand that different times of the year can be awkward and inconvenient, but there is always some shit on and you simply need to work around it and find a way rather than make excuses!
December is typically the month people eat and drink the most and exercise the least. It’s no surprise come January that people are fatter and out of breath walking up stairs. Usually out of pure guilt and tight clothes people join a gym to try and undo their December splurge.
This usually ends up with a forgotten about direct-debit come March/April time as you end up joining a commercial gym with the cheapest option being broke from Xmas and getting fed up of doing the same shit in the gym. The people who know what they’re doing probably didn’t stop training in the first place so this doesn’t apply to them!
So far it sounds all doom and gloom but it’s quite simple. If you start training now before December hits and the parties start rolling in the chances of you becoming that sloth I mentioned above in January will drastically decease.
You can still go out have fun attend the parties but just training 2-3 times a week and implanting some damage control will stop you going backwards! You might not make much progress but its better than spending the whole of January trying to “work off” December.
Usually this time of year is a quiet period in most gyms and personal training studios so it makes perfect sense to join and get the ball rolling!
Don’t be a January gym wanker two months from now you will have wished you started today!
